Safety
At Jubilant, Safety of People at work, Plant & machinery and Public
at large are of utmost importance along with business activities. The
Company has adopted the Globally Harmonized System for providing safety
information regarding its products. The Company is a signatory to
Responsible Care program of Indian Chemical Council and committed to
Sustainability; the global chemical industrys unique initiative to
improve its Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
The company has safety committees at two levels- central and zonal.
Central committees look after the overall unit and zonal committee focus
on specific zones within the unit. These committees constitute both
management and workmen representatives.
Safety system and approach adopted includes
- Identification of hazards and assessment of risk involved in
various activities right from product development stage to the plant
- Comprehend and incorporate necessary safety measures at the
design stage itself
- Develop and implement effective systems such as work permits,
mock drills, system of reporting incidents, identifying the root
cause of the same and built in preventive measures etc
- Fire being a major hazards in all operations, an elaborate fire
fighting system is installed comprising alarm systems, manual call
points, sprinkler systems, pressurized fire hydrant system, fire
tenders and well trained human resource to handle emergencies
- On site emergency plan which is updated regularly,
training imparted, mock drills organized to fine tune the emergency
plans
- Carrying out HAZOP/ HAZAN studies, developing safety data sheets,
selection of suitable material of construction, developing standard
operating procedures, carrying out hazardous area classification are
some of the methods adopted to handle safety aspects of companys
operations
- Safety training is imparted to both employees as well as contract
workers regularly
Jubilants approach towards safety management is based on
Comprehensive Safety Improvement and Capacity Building Project (CSICB),
to built-up safety awareness, safe work environment and also in
documentation.
Occupational Health
The Occupational Health Services approach at Jubilant is a
multi-dimensional, encompassing important spheres related to preventive
& curative health. The measures and initiatives incorporate
compliance to the regulatory requirement. The well equipped Occupational
Health Centre (OHC) along with ambulance caters to employees and
contract workers with the objective to:

- Protect workers from risks resulting from physical, physiological
and psychological factors to their health in the organization
- Ensure that the health of the workforce remains within that of
normal aging pattern
- Extend the healthcare services to community around
- Ensure focus on Preventive Measures.
- Analyze the observations of health status to determine and advise
concerned for adopting preventive measures
- Pre-employment check-up for new employees, periodic medical
examination
Other activities are also undertaken as part of the
OH centres are :
- Physical examination of the contract workers in case of doubt of
being child labour.
- Emergency response
- Providing Health education First aid, Personnel hygiene,
Ergonomics, Health talks etc to the employees, their family and
community around the plant
- Hygiene monitoring at the workplace, canteen etc
- Identify hazards and assessing risks in the workplace by
conducting Walk through surveys, audits
