Drug Discovery at Jubilant is deep rooted with the focus on understanding disease biology across Therapeutic areas as well as enabling technologies to identify novel lead generation platforms that will enable novel drug candidates to pursue potential commercialization.

Over 1000 scientists across USA, Europe and India collaborate with global pharmaceutical companies and academia across various technology and therapeutic platforms in areas of Target validation, discovery, preclinical and clinical development focusing on therapeutic areas of Oncology, Metabolic disease, CNS and infectious diseases.

While the discovery team at DDDS focuses on early stage lead generation across various target classes and uses a wide range of technologies, including High Throughput screening, molecular modeling, medicinal chemistry structural biology to identify novel starting points that are then selective take thru preclinical and clinical development. The discovery and translational biology groups within Jubilant work very closely in enabling a deeper understanding of the disease biology and accelerating early stage development right up to Proof of concept in both Animals and humans as appropriate.

In its quest to enable partners with focused and targeted therapy, the DDDS group partners Jubilant First trust (health care delivery group)with globally renowned academia to identify potential biomarkers and new targets that will improve development efforts while reducing the cost of therapy. Cohort studies to understand chronic disease pattern in Indian population compared with the other global genetic diaspora is an effort at DDDS to better understand disease biology and develop druggable targets focusing on unmet needs.

The DDDS team focuses in enabling better understanding of disease patterns in Oncology, Cardiovascular and Diabetes among various other indications. An effort to develop targets that alleviate and manage the spread of drug resistant TB is another area of major philanthropic focus within the DDDS organization.

All of the efforts are further managed thru a highly efficient R&D process that makes the DDDS group a preferred partner of choice who drives scientific innovation at affordable cost focused on delivering affordable healthcare to the patients worldwide.

The transition to Innovative R&D is relatively new to Jubilant, a journey that started a few years ago when the visionary leadership decided to focus on making significant investments in setting up a state of art Drug discovery center in Bangalore as well as a expanded chemistry and phase I clinical development center in Delhi., while acquiring clinical development capabilities across Europe and US. This enables the DDDS to leverage India for a global outcome. This transition is further enhanced by the Health care delivery group Jubilant First trust where the two groups collaborate at seamless arms length to provide a holistic platform to deliver solutions in pharmaceutical development and healthcare.

These combined capabilities enable very creative and mutually rewarding partnerships with the Global Pharmaceutical and healthcare industry and the DDDS group has pioneered path breaking partnerships that will enable globally networked innovation: Examples include:

Academic Collaborations:
  • Duke Translational and Clinical Research Institute of Duke University:
A unique collaboration that focuses on :Global health initiatives (cohort studies) including use of metabolomics platform to understand chronic disease patterns; Early stage translational discoveries across multiple therapeutic areas; Early stage clinical development collaboration harmonizing Phase I development across multiple geographies.

  • University of Alabama (UAB) – Southern Research Institute (SRI):
A unique joint funding partnership with UAB and SRI that enables unrestricted access to technologies across UAB and SRI that are developed to Proof of concept leveraging the capabilities of all the 3 groups addressing unmet disease needs across various geographies.
Global Pharmaceutical and Biotech Industry:
  • The DDDS group has multiple pioneering partnerships that focuses on multi targets and therapeutic areas in delivering new targets, preclinical candidates and Phase II clinical candidates. These collaborations enable a highly efficient R&D engine for our partners delivering cost effective pipeline that are further pursued for commercialization. The partners include Astra Zeneca, Lilly, Amgen Endo, Forest to name a few…
The DDDS groups continues to differentiate itself by exploring efforts in areas of Tissue banking, stems cells and regenerative medicine as it future areas of focus. The DDDS group is uniquely positioned to deliver solutions to the immediate and long term needs of the industry and has demonstrated innovation that is flexible and very affordable with the mission of making a difference in enabling affordable healthcare to the patients worldwide.
