Jubilant's CSC (Crop Science Chemicals) business offers Key advance intermediates and Actives for Crop Science and Agrochemical industry.

In line with Jubilant's focus on integrated offering of products to all it's customers, the Company has extended its expertise in the area of Pyridines & it's derivatives to develop best in class products for the Crop Science & Agrochemicals industry. As a global leader in Pyridine & its derivatives the Company aims at introducing new products and achieving global scale of operations for most of the related Crop Science products for the Agrochemicals industry.

Jubilant being fully backward integrated in most of these products shall provide cost effective, reliable and long term sustainable solutions to all it's customers.

The Crop Science Chemicals business offers the following:

The Company's current Crop Science product portfolio includes:
Symtet (Also known as TCP) 2,3,5,6-Tetrachloropyridine
Symtet is used in the production of Chlorpyrifos (world's largest insecticide by Volume) and Triclopyr. Using Symtet to produce Chlorpyrifos makes the process cleaner, simpler and eco-friendly and Carbon positive compared to the alternate route ( presently used ) starting from Monochloroacetic acid (MCA) / Trichloroacetyl Chloride (TCAC) .

Use of Symtet for producing Chlorpyrifos is competitive and preferable over MCA / TCAC route in terms of quality and Economics.
  • Effluent : Symtet route is expected to generate far less effluents as compared to the current MCA/TCAC route thereby reducing the environment management costs.
  • Utility and ETP Costs : Cost of Utility and ETP through Symtet route is lower as compared to the alternate route
  • Maintenance and Life of the Plant : Symtet simplifies the operations at the customer's end to produce Chlorpyrifos. Being less corrosive Symtet usage will result in better Plant Life Expectancy as compared to the MCA / TCAC route
  • Greener and Cleaner Route :  Jubilant is committed to proactively develop alternate technologies like Symtet involving green chemistry by reducing GHG ( Green House Gases ) emissions through reduced level of carbon footprint. Jubilant has developed Symtet using pyridine, which is produced from bio-ethanol as a feed stock instead of Petro route. This gives sustained cumulative saving of GHG emissions.
Jubilant Life Sciences Limited is producing Symtet through a niche technology developed through in-house R&D, using Pyridine as a starting material which is produced captively. The Company is setting up a state of the art manufacturing facility for Symtet (24000TPA) at its Bharuch, Gujarat site which is expected to be operational in Q-1 of Calender Year'2012. Once this plant is functional, it will make Jubilant the largest producer of Symtet globally, catering to more than 40% of the worldwide demand.

Being backward integrated to key raw material of Symtet i.e. Pyridine and further to Pyridine's feedstock, Jubilant is committed to remain a cost effective and sustainable supplier of Symtet to all it's customers. Jubilant shall be ready to expand capacity of Symtet to continue servicing increasing demand of Symtet from it's customers due to increase in demand of Chlorpyrifos and Triclopyr at the market place.

Jubilant is the largest producer of Pyridine and is the only Pyridine producer in the world having both it's key raw materials (i.e. Acetaldehyde and Formaldehyde) manufactured at the same site, making it globally competitive and sustainable.

Jubilant can provide technical support to customers presently using MCA/TCAC route to enable them to adopt Symtet route for production of Chlorpyrifos

PCP (2,3,4,5,6-Pentachloropyridine)
PCP is used mainly in the production of a Fluroxypyr meptyl (Herbicide). Jubilant Life Sciences Limited is producing PCP through a niche technology developed through inhouse R & D, using Pyridine as a starting material which is produced captively.

The Company is setting up PCP plant also at its Bharuch Gujarat site which is expected to be operational in Q2 of Calendar Year'2012. The production capacity of PCP would be Several 100's of Metric Tons.

CDC (Chlormequat Chloride)
Used as a plant growth regulator in Wheat, Grapes, Soybean and Ornamentals etc. Presently the company is producing Chlormequat Chloride (CDC) at its Samlaya plant in Gujarat and has registration for India as well as exports for various grades. This product is currently suppllied to global players of Crop Science industry in India and the company is working towards the product development in the international markets.

The production capacity of CDC is about 2000MT which can cater to about 10% - 12% of the global market.
